GLOBALCIT – Rainer Bauböck 2024 Essay Award and Ronald Coase Fellowship for Roberto Ramos Obando

Our Research Associate, Roberto Ramos Obando, has been honoured with two awards within only a few weeks.

Roberto has received the European University Institute's GLOBALCIT – Rainer Bauböck 2024 Essay Award on the Global State of Citizenship for his essay, "Climate Change and the Transformation of Citizenship."

This essay explores the profound impacts of climate change on citizenship and will be presented at the European University Institute's Robert Schuman Centre's 30th Anniversary Conference, held from June 17–21. The conference will focus on ethical dilemmas in policymaking related to international migration and citizenship.

In addition, Ramos Obando has been awarded a Ronald Coase Fellowship by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. This year-long program engages graduate students in an in-depth study of the Austrian, Virginia, and Bloomington schools of political economy. Participants will partake in virtual workshops and seminars, critically examining policy and social issues from these academic perspectives.
